Overview
ViviON is a Japanese company that plans, produces, operates, and markets web services and content, and it is a wholly owned subsidiary of GEO Holdings Corporation. The enterprise was established on October 1, 2021, through a share transfer from EISYS, Inc., and it began operating on December 1 of that same year after inheriting a portion of EISYS’s businesses and subsidiary shares via an absorption-type company split.
What viviON operates today spans a strikingly wide range for a company of its age: electronic comic stores and apps, an illustrator support platform, a web novel submission site, a general online store for two-dimensional content goods, publishing labels for paper books, an analog game label, an indie game label, a voice-actor agency through its subsidiary zowieQ, a recording studio in Chiyoda, Tokyo, and a virtual creator community called VHS City that houses multiple VTuber groups. Its subsidiaries include EISYS — the company behind the download shop DLsite, the game platform DLsite Nijigame, the community site DL Channel, the creator support platform Ci-en, and the paper comic label DLsite Shobo — along with forcs, zowieQ, and Trysis.
For an industry encyclopedia, viviON matters less as a single product line than as a consolidation vehicle: a corporate entity assembled in the 2020s that gathered download retail, publishing, voice talent, and virtual creator management under one roof, then spent the following years folding acquired accounts, points, and platforms into unified branding. The specifics of that accumulation are the story.
History
viviON inherited its first assets on December 1, 2021, when it took over a portion of EISYS’s businesses and subsidiary shares through an absorption-type company split. The corporate shell itself had existed since October 1 of that year, created by a share transfer, but the operational clock started in December. Twenty-two days later, on December 23, the manga app comipo arrived on Google Play — a listening-oriented comic service that would later become one of the group’s more persistent storefronts.
The paper-and-ink ambitions followed in 2022. On September 16, the publishing label viviON THOTH began releasing books, its name drawn from the Egyptian deity Thoth. On November 1, the company acquired the web novel submission site Novelism from YANN, Inc. A tie-up with Brave group in the IP business domain was announced on January 16, 2023, and in February of that year a television drama based on a viviON THOTH original aired on TV Tokyo and other channels, produced with group company forcs.
April 2023 brought absorption: on April 1, viviON merged Createling Inc., the company behind the VTuber group Aogiri High School. On April 21, the memory-sharing app koeto launched on Google Play. A manga-production variety show began streaming on YouTube on May 25. September saw the opening of the mail-order service viviON BLUE, and on November 2 the company established a Defamation Countermeasures Committee, framed as a measure to protect its affiliated VTubers, creators, and employees from defamatory and stalking behavior.
The expansion continued into 2024. viviON BLUE formally opened as a two-dimensional content variety store on January 16. March brought the mobile puzzle adventure Sin of OZ to the App Store and Google Play, alongside the acquisition of VTuber-related business from ICT, Inc. koeto entered formal service on April 10, pitched as a closed SNS born from the real voices of university students. The analog game label ADICE was announced on September 12. November saw the full launch of Manga Hub, a commissioned distribution service carrying individual and corporate manga to more than one hundred electronic comic stores in Japan and abroad.
In 2025 the consolidation accelerated. The illustration contest service GENSEKI biz opened its official site on February 7. An official club sponsor contract with Nankatsu SC was signed on April 9. On April 21, DLsite account management and operations transferred from subsidiary EISYS, and the account name changed from DLsite Account to viviON ID. On May 30, an overseas two-dimensional goods shop opened on the twelfth floor of the U-PLEX wing of Hyundai Department Store’s Sinchon branch in South Korea. On June 4, the electronic comic store DLsite comipo was unified under the comipo name and renewed. July 1 brought a collaboration with group company GEO Store to place permanent two-dimensional content goods corners in fifty GEO shops nationwide. In August, the cloud gaming engine OOParts Engine and related patented technology were acquired from Black Inc. On August 31, the VTuber agency Vebop Project was acquired from REALITY Studios, a subsidiary of Gree.
More transfers landed on September 1, when management and operation of Minna de Honyaku moved from EISYS. On October 1, DLsite Points followed the same route and were renamed viviON Points. A Minna no Ginko viviON branch opened on October 6 through a collaboration with Minna no Ginko. Vebop Project’s operations were officially transferred on October 22.
Into 2026: a viviON JCB Card launched on January 26 in partnership with Nudge, Inc. On May 8, the company entered indie game publishing with the label viviON Lab. June 1 saw the creation of the virtual creator community VHS City, and on that same date Vebop Project was renamed Bibap High School. A new VTuber production, Yuugiri High School, was announced on June 15, with five members debuting on June 19. Two days later, on June 17, the online lottery service viviON BLUE Kuji launched within viviON BLUE.
Not every service survived. ZOWA, an ASMR-focused audio and video service and bulletin board, ended on September 29, 2023. koeto was set to end in December 2025. Qunn, a web media outlet for female-oriented two-dimensional content, was scheduled to end on July 31, 2026.
Business Model
ViviON does not sell a single thing. It sells the shelf, the label, the account, and the talent, and it collects a cut at each layer. The company’s own description of its business — planning, production, operation, and marketing of web services and content — is broad enough to cover a download shop, a comic app, a web novel site, a goods store, several publishing imprints, and a roster of virtual performers, and the subsidiary structure shows how the money is meant to move: EISYS holds the two-dimensional download shop DLsite, the game platform DLsite Nijigame, the community site DL Channel, the creator support platform Ci-en, the item-holding service Triokini, the trial-version portal chobit, and the paper comic label DLsite Shobo. Each of those is a different way of charging for the same audience’s attention.
Ownership of the pipeline is the recurring pattern. Manga Hub, launched in November 2024, distributes individual and corporate manga to more than one hundred electronic comic stores in Japan and abroad on the creators’ behalf — a commission business that sits between the maker and every storefront, rather than competing with any one of them. GENSEKI biz, opened in February 2025, proposes illustration contests to clients who need art commissioned, turning the search for artists into a service sold to the buyer. The points system followed the same logic: DLsite Points were inherited from EISYS on October 1, 2025 and renamed viviON Points, and on April 21 of that year the DLsite account itself became viviON ID, folding a long-standing storefront identity into the parent brand.
Virtual talent is the other pillar, and it is structured as a portfolio rather than a single bet. Four VTuber groups sit under the VHS City community: Aogiri High School, Yuugiri High School, Bibap High School, and Gorakugumi, the last operated by subsidiary zowieQ — which also runs the voice-acting agency Yellow Tail and the narrator agency zowieQ Production. Membership is not limited to wholly owned groups; the partner group Kemomimi Refle! and the individual VTuber Norai Joi participate as partners. Bibap High School’s lineage illustrates the acquisition strategy: founded in August 2023 as Vebop Project under REALITY Studios, a Gree subsidiary, its first generation of eight debuted in February 2024 and a second generation of eight followed in August of that year, before the business was transferred to viviON on August 31, 2025 and the operation handed over on October 22. Yuugiri High School was announced on June 15, 2026, with five members debuting on June 19 — a launch cadence that treats talent rosters the way a publisher treats print runs.
Brand and infrastructure deals round out the model. A Minna no Ginko viviON branch opened on October 6, 2025, and a viviON JCB Card arrived on January 26, 2026 with Nudge, Inc., putting the company’s name onto payment instruments. Fifty GEO shops began carrying permanent two-dimensional goods corners on July 1, 2025, converting a parent group’s retail footprint into shelf space for viviON BLUE merchandise. An overseas shop opened on May 30, 2025 on the twelfth floor of the U-PLEX wing of Hyundai Department Store’s Sinchon branch in South Korea. None of these are product lines in the conventional sense; they are tolls, shelves, and accounts, and viviON’s model is collecting at as many of them as possible.
The model has a cost side, and the company has paid it visibly. ZOWA ended on September 29, 2023; koeto was set to close in December 2025; Qunn was scheduled to end on July 31, 2026. Each shutdown represents a bet placed on an app or a media outlet that did not earn its keep. On November 2, 2023, the company established a Defamation Countermeasures Committee, framed as protecting its VTubers, creators, and employees from defamatory and stalking behavior — an operating expense that exists because the talent-facing side of the business generates liabilities that a download shop never did.
Cultural Impact
A company that owns both the download shop and the people who sell there occupies an unusual position, and viviON’s reach into Japanese two-dimensional fandom runs along two channels. The first is the consumer-facing storefront: the Download shop DLsite, the comic app comipo — unified on June 4, 2025 when DLsite comipo was renamed and renewed to match — and the goods variety store viviON BLUE, which on June 17, 2026 added the no-lose online lottery service viviON BLUE Kuji. The second is the creator-facing infrastructure: Ci-en for support, Manga Hub for distribution, GENSEKI for illustration commissions. Between the two, the company touches the moment a doujin artist uploads a file and the moment a fan draws a prize in an online kuji, which is a wider arc of the same transaction than most retailers in the space attempt.
The VTuber side has produced a naming pattern that reads as a small subculture in itself. VHS City was created on June 1, 2026 as a virtual creator community, and on the same day Vebop Project was renamed Bibap High School. Yuugiri High School was announced two weeks later. Set beside the original Aogiri High School, the naming convention turns a talent agency roster into something resembling a school district, and the community’s stated participant categories — full members, a partner group, a partner creator — reproduce a high school’s social map inside a management structure. Whether this is branding or administration is a question the company has not answered in its announcements; the effect is that four separate VTuber groups share one institutional vocabulary.
The paper side of the operation is smaller but not incidental. The publishing label viviON THOTH takes its name from the Egyptian deity of writing and knowledge, and it has spun out viviON THOTH COMICS, viviON THOTH BLANKET for BL, viviON THOTH PILLOW for TL, and ALLURE Novels. In February 2023, a viviON THOTH original became a television drama aired on TV Tokyo and other channels. From a distance, the distance between a doujin download shop and a TV Tokyo broadcast slot is the distance viviON has spent its short life trying to close, one label at a time.
